Book Review: Digital Black and White Photography.
27th April 2008
As you can imagine there are quite a lot of books on photography, even black and white photography (in this age of "full colour") so it can be very hard choosing a book that is right for your own special needs and wants. One book has recently been reviewed and it does seem to cover the ground in a basic way, one that will suit the many who are not at the heights of technical knowledge enjoyed by the experts.
Overall it looks like the book is very much aimed at beginners, covering most elements in just two pages, however, this may be just enough for some, as they can always go on to delve at greater depths later on. The reviewer seems to acknowledge this, their comment
"One probably cannot learn very much from such short texts, but you’d be surprised by how much information fits on two pages, especially when the accompanying images are carefully selected"
.summing it up very well.
The book covers such topics as:-
- converting colour to black and white
- digital camera equipment
- composition
- light quality
- digital imaging techniques
- simulating classic darkroom effects
- showing and sharing your pictures
and much more.
