The Best Photographic Book Ever?
17th Dec 2007
Joe McNally's latest book "The Moment It Clicks" is being celebrated by some as the most amazing book on photography ever written. The full title " The Moment it Clicks: Photographer Secrets from one of the world’s best shooters " perhaps says it all.
Scott Kelby the editor and publisher of Photoshop User Magazine, Layers magazine to name just a few says
"Joe McNally, whose celebrated work has graced the pages of Sports Illustrated, Time, and National Geographic (to name a few), is amazing yet different because it actually blends the rich, stunning images and elegant layout of a coffee-table book with the invaluable training, no-nonsense insights, and photography secrets usually found only in those rare, best-of-breed educational and how-to books.
This is not really a book for beginners, it being aimed at realy serious photographers who want to learn what it takes to move to an entirely new level of photographic thinking, of shooting, and of the of making images that really captivate the viewer. It isn't really a "how to book" (though it has a strong "how to" element), and it’s certainly not about camera settings (although he provides them for information for most images in the book), instead it’s a book about being a better photographer; about what it takes to “get that shot”. I suppose its all about how to start thinking differently about your work.
