Tilt Shift Photography - An Art Form Worth Some Investigation
10th Nov 2008
Tilt-shift photography is a creative and unique type of photography in which the camera is manipulated so that a life-sized location or subject looks just like a miniature-scale model. It all looks both marvellous and somewhat weird at the same time and is well worth some investigation, there being so much potential fun to be had with this technique.
The theory is that to add a good "miniature effect" to your photographs, you shoot subjects from a high angle (best from the air if you can manage it), as this creates the illusion of looking down at a miniature model. However a normal camera is no good, as you'll need one equipped with a tilt-shift lens, as this simulates the shallow depth of field required in this art form.
So armed you can start Tilt-shift photography and create some unique photographs which will indeed make any life sized location (or subject) look like a miniature scale table top model.
